10 Reasons to Take Lessons From me

  1. I Teach a Proven, Transformational Curriculum
I’m a Happy Horse Happy Life Approved Instructor, teaching Linda Parelli’s How to Talk Horse curriculum. It’s a structured, thoughtful approach that consistently helps horses become calmer, more confident, and easier to understand — and helps humans become clearer, more effective partners.

  2. I Teach from Real Experience, Not From a Pedestal
I’ve been the rider with the “problem horse,” the one who felt scared, frustrated, and stuck. I don’t teach things I’ve just read or watched — I teach from lived experience, and I understand how powerful it is when things finally start to make sense.

  3. I’m Especially Drawn to Emotional or “Complicated” Horses
Sensitive, reactive, shut-down, or misunderstood horses are my specialty. I focus on emotional regulation for both horse and human, helping partnerships move from survival mode into trust, clarity, and connection.

  4. I Notice the Details That Matter Most
As someone with ADHD and autism, I naturally pick up on subtle changes — an ear flick, a breath change, a moment of hesitation. Those small details often hold the key to big breakthroughs.

  5. I Teach Softness Without Sacrificing Clarity
My approach is gentle, but never vague. I help students learn how to be kind and clear, so horses feel safe, understood, and confident rather than confused or pressured.

  6. I Look Beyond the Behavior
I don’t just try to “fix” a problem — I help you understand why it’s happening. Emotional state, balance, biomechanics, and communication all matter, because lasting change comes from understanding the whole horse.

  7. I Meet You Exactly Where You Are
Every lesson is tailored to you and your horse. Whether you’re brand new, rebuilding confidence, or ready to deepen an already solid partnership, I adapt my teaching to support your goals — without judgment or pressure.

  8. I Value Horses at Every Stage of Life
I believe horsemanship doesn’t end when riding does. I love working with senior horses, retirees, and horses with physical limitations, helping owners discover meaningful ways to connect beyond the saddle.

  9. I Bring Learning to the Horse
I offer lessons at my home base, Muddy Boot Farm, and both lessons and clinics by traveling to students’ farms. Learning in a familiar environment helps horses stay relaxed and allows progress to happen more naturally.

  10. I Care Deeply About Your Breakthroughs
Those lightbulb moments — when a horse softens or a human finally feels the change — are why I teach. Your progress matters to me, and I’m fully invested in helping you and your horse succeed.
